Pike's Peak Cog Railway

We began our vacation in Manitou Springs, Colorado (outside of Colorado Springs) where we road the cog railway up 14,115 feet to Pike's Peak. Breathtaking! I would reccomend this to anyone that can take the climb in elevation.

This poor couple didn't quite endure the altitude and slept all the way down!

This is on one of the climbs at about 20% grade. We followed this railway car up the mountain.

Up at the top it was 37 degrees and it had snowed the night before. Yes that is snow on the ground and it was very cold. We had left Calif the day before in 106 degree heat and now we were freezing!

They have these delicious and unique donuts (baked at the altitude of 14, 115 ft) so we HAD to try them and they were really good!

Big D enjoying his donuts.

It was a slow and beautiful climb up the mountains

Several reservoirs on the way up

Whew...Half way!

Beautiful and so many different landscapes as we climbed higher and higher

A grove of Aspens

Waterfalls

Climbing...

Whoa nellie....What did we get ourselves into!
